Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between brow tattooing and brow microblading?

TATOOING

  • Enters in the deep layers of dermis.

  • Uses inks to create art form.

  • Ink is spread in a way to create a drawing.

  • Due to application and depth, tattoo ink most likely will never leave the skin.

  • Painful healing process of 2-4 weeks.

  • High risk of scarring.

MICROBLADING

  • Only penetrates into epidermis.

  • Uses special pigments to enhance natural features.

  • Creates sharp, hair strokes as skin cells are tightly packed together in the epidermis.

  • Due to application and depth, Microblading will fade dramatically within 18 months, in some cases leaving the skin completely.

  • Less painful with healing process of up to 1 week.

  • Risk of scarring is low.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

The first session should take 2.5-3 hours. During the consultation, we will shape and style the desired brow as per client’s approval. We then follow with pigment selection. A numbing cream will be applied for about 30 minutes. Once we have established the color and shape, we begin the process.

A touch up in 4-6 weeks is required to address inconsistent healing. This session will take about 1.5-2 hours.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE HEALING PROCESS?

The treated area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will be very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The color will fade between 30-50% during the healing process. Color will still appear dark and you will notice scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this will disturb healing and can cause damage to the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. It takes about 2 weeks to heal and during this time the color will appear lighter and the skin will have an opaque milky look. This is due to the tissue still healing from the inside out. True color will show once healed.

DO I REALLY NEED A TOUCH UP?

Absolutely! A touch up session in 4-6 weeks is imperative as everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary. Certain areas may not retain color and will need a retreat. Brow thickness and hair strokes can be added for boldness. Candidates with oily skin may require more touch ups as oily skin tend to retain less color. Most importantly, the touch up session will also be the perfection session to ensure your brows will last up to 18 months or longer. There after yearly touch ups could be done.

DOES IT HURT?

The pain level for the procedure will feel like a scratch and is considered mild to none. A topical anesthetic will be applied prior to procedure as well as during the procedure for extra comfort. After the procedure the treated area will appear red and have mild swelling.
